Privacy Policy
Last Updated: September 2026 โข Compliant with EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
NewsFlow is committed to reader privacy. Our platform operates on a privacy-by-design architecture, strictly adhering to the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) and the EU ePrivacy Directive.
1. No Third-Party Trackers or Invasive Cookies
NewsFlow does not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, cross-site advertising networks, or third-party fingerprinting scripts. We do not place tracking cookies on your device to monitor your behavior across the internet.
2. Privacy-Preserving Web Analytics
To understand which stories are most read, evaluate referral performance, and maintain continental server reliability, we implement privacy-preserving analytics solutions:
- First-Party Metrics: We do NOT persist your raw IP address in our analytics database. We generate a daily salted, one-way SHA-256 hash derived from request headers to approximate unique visitor counts. This hash automatically rotates daily, making long-term user tracking technically impossible.
- Ahrefs Web Analytics: We utilize Ahrefs Web Analytics to measure aggregate website traffic, page popularities, and referral channels. Ahrefs Web Analytics operates without cross-site tracking cookies, does not profile individual readers across the internet, and processes performance telemetry in an anonymized, aggregated manner.
3. Newsletter Subscriptions
If you subscribe to the NewsFlow Morning Dispatch, your email address is stored securely in our database solely for the purpose of delivering the requested daily briefing. You can unsubscribe at any time with a single click via the link provided in every dispatch email. We never sell, lease, or share email addresses with commercial brokers.
4. Advertising & Third-Party Vendor Disclosures
NewsFlow is designed to support sustainable, high-standard digital journalism. When commercial advertisements are displayed on the website, third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies or web beacons to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to NewsFlow or other websites on the internet.
Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our readers based on their visits to our site and/or other sites on the Internet. Readers may opt out of personalized advertising at any time by visiting Google Ads Settings or AboutAds.info.
5. Your Data Protection Rights Under GDPR
Under European data protection law, you possess the right to access, rectify, or erase any personal data held about you (e.g. newsletter subscription records). Contact our Data Protection Officer at privacy@newsflow.eu.
